Unsheltered Street Count by Municipality (2014‐2018), also known as Regional Homeless Point in Time Count. All communities participate in the unsheltered homeless count conducted during the last week of January. Numbers for all communities with the exception of Phoenix are a direct census of individuals interviewed by volunteers, law enforcement, and outreach workers. The City of Phoenix conducts a survey using an extrapolation method by which areas are designated “high density” or “low density” areas. Direct counts in those areas are then extrapolated to estimate the number of individuals experiencing homelessness in unsheltered situations within the City of Phoenix geographic boundaries.

Information about individuals experiencing homelessness and receiving services through Maricopa Regional Continuum of Care Coordinated Entry Points managed by Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG). See Reporting Interval and Report Date columns for more information about the date range covered. Information about "Mesa residents only" defined by value "client" in Demographic Audience field. The Emergency Rent and Utilities Assistance Program (ERAP) was established in response to COVID pandemic financial impact to Mesa residents, funded through the U.S. Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021. This dataset includes information about application and payments dispersed through the program. The program provides financial assistance to households financially impacted by COVID for rent and utility assistance to prevent eviction and homelessness. This dataset describes information related to the City of Mesa Housing Authority (MHA) which administers the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program. The program assists low-income individuals or families living in Mesa with rental assistance according to their income. Information in this dataset is used to calculate the Utilization Rate (the percentage of vouchers that are leased up of the number of allocated vouchers from US Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) to MHA) and the Voucher Budget Authority (the percentage of the allocated funding dollars for rent payments on behalf of current housing voucher participants).
